The following riding schools are within easy reach of Sea Fern Cottage and offer lessons for all abilities from 4 years and up.
- Borrwoby Equestrian Centre – Near Staithes is a 30 minute drive from Sea Fern Cottage.
Borrowby offers traffic free trekking in unspoiled countryside with views of the moors and coast. All rides are escorted by qualified experienced riders.
Lessons cater for all ages from 4 years and all abilities. Older children can spend the day riding and all aspects of caring for horses and ponies. Prices 1/2 Hour Lesson £15.00 1 Hour Lesson £25.00. Check the events page on their website for Saturday Pony Days 6th May 10:00 AM 4:00 PM, which include a 2 hour ride, mucking out, grooming, catching & leading ponies. Bring a packed lunch £40

- Friars Hill Riding Stables - 45 minute drive from Sea Fern Cottage
Little Own a Pony Days These are for the children for them to get a bit more hands on experience, learning about ponies, brushing them, learning how to tack up and a short riding session in there too. The cost for LOAPD sessions is currently £25.00 per child for the 2.5 hour session. Children should dress appropriately for both riding and the weather and should bring along a small snack & drink with them!

Situated 12 miles from Robin Hoods Bay in Ugthorpe, Grange Stud Riding School offer lesson in school holidays. Last summer a 3 hour morning riding lesson was £35 through their facebook page Grange Stud Riding School
Farsyde Farm riding school is just down the lane from Sea Fern Cottage. They offer lessons for experienced riders from 6 years and up. You can stable your horse with them and they offer gudied rides along the beach.

Experienced riders only. Small groups of capable riders can enjoy riding through fields, ancient woods, streams and miles of glorious moorland with 360 degrees panoramic views, with the sea nearly always in sight. Riding on the beach is for experienced riders who can splash in the waves and pools and have the novelty of riding through the narrow streets of Robin Hood’s Bay. Highly qualified supervision.
