  • I stayed at sea fern cottage on a catered guided cycling weekend. The cottage was immaculate. It was beautifully presented, clean, very comfortable with everything you need for a holiday. The catering was brilliant - a varied menu of tasty options cooked to perfection and the weather even accommodated a barbecue evening. The host/chef Jill looked after us from breakfast to bedtime. Sea fern cottage was the best place to come ‘home’ to after some hilly challenging but very enjoyable days on the bike and walks around the area. Loved the experience - top marks !

  • Lovely Place! You seem to have thought of everything. Dad loved the bike tools, Mum loved the bath, kids loved the teddies and toys. Our 6 year old caught his first wave on your body boards. Oh and kitchen knives that are actually sharp! Wow, unique among holiday cottages. Thank you.

  • I've just come back from Seafern Cottage, having spent an amazing long weekend there with a cycling group. Seafern is in a wonderfully quiet cul-de-sac, so it's nice and relaxing, especially sitting outside in the garden after a long cycle ride. There's everything you need and it's so beautifully done and comfortable, too. There is plenty or space for six adults and all rooms are comfortable, two bathrooms work well and the kitchen has everything you need. It's close enough to Robin Hood's Bay centre to walk down and enjoy all that it has to offer. The bus route to Whitby and Scarborough is close by so you can leave your car behind and it's right by the Cinder Track for traffic-free cycling and walking.
If you fancy a challenge, the roads out of Robin Hoods Bay and Fylingthorpe are quiet enough to cycle up, and once you get to the top, the views are breathtaking.
Thank you Jill - I had the most wonderful time and will definitely be back. I managed to get myself a lovely Jessica Hogarth print to remind me of fab weekend!

  • Seafern cottage is situated in a perfect location in a quiet cul-de-sac. There is a village shop and pub within walking distance. Around a mile away via a traffic free footpath, you have the delights of Robin Hood’s Bay.

The cottage has recently been renovated. It’s spacious and additionally has a garden which is a sun trap. It’s comfortable and relaxing.

The larger areas of Whitby and Scarborough are easy driving distance. Locally there is so much to do. You could survive without a car.

This is a highly recommended place to stay. Jill is an excellent host.

  • My husband and I, along with our cockapoo Mabel, have just had the most wonderful week at Seafern. It is a gorgeous cottage; very comfortable and spacious, well equipped, beautiful inside and out, and in a perfect location. We hardly used the car as the weather was so good and the scenery so stunning. We had a visit from our son and girlfriend over night, and my parents spent an afternoon with us too. Although we didn’t need the full size of the accommodation it was worth every penny.
We walked to Whitby and also visited Falling Foss & Beacon Farm which was the only time we used the car. Other than that it was stunning beach walks (Boggle Hole YHA for cake & coffee a must!). Thank you - we’ll definitely return one day.

  • We really enjoyed our week. The cottage was perfect for our party of 6,and had everything we needed.Beds were very comfortable.Plenty of hot water for showers and bath.
We appreciated the outdoor seating in the garden, great to relax in.
The cottage is a home from home and we would happily return.

  • What a lovely place Seafern is. It had everything you could possibly need, was spotlessly clean and really comfortable. Four of us stayed, but there was plenty of room for six. Parking for three vehicles is great, it's close to the village shop and pub, plus is only a 1.2 mile walk down into Robin Hood's Bay. We will be back !!!

  • We had a very comfy stay at Sea Fern. The house was extremely well presented and everything we needed was right at hand. The walk into the top of Robin Hood's Bay via the Cinder Track, cutting off the corner, was easy for us as a family and it was nice to explore Fylingthorpe, a new place to stay for us. The shop was handy and a nice little park for the kids. Thankyou!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Seafern. the property is in a superb location, extremely quiet with walks from the door and a short drive to local attractions. We can recommend walks around RH Bay and Whitby. Boggle Hole and the YHA cafe worth a trip. We enjoyed a day exploring on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway with ours dogs, not cheap but its a whole day out and recommend leaving time to walk around Goathland and Pickering (locations of Heartbeat and Bangers & Cash!) The property was super clean and very well equipped. We respected like our own home as its lovely and rare to find somewhere so nice! Highly recommended :-)

  • We have had a wonderful week. Seafern is a beautiful holiday home. It is decorated and equipped with everything you could need to a very high standard . The beds are so comfortable usually at this point I’m looking forward to getting back to my own bed but now I’m looking to buy an Emma mattress . Thank you for letting us stay here great location for many lovely walks and the beautiful RHB is a short walk away . Bus to Whitby is a treat too . Thank you again.

  • We had a brilliant weekend at Seafern and will definitely be returning.

    — Kate Ball, 04 Apr 2024
  • Clean, comfortable, spacious with lovely decor. It was easy for us to walk from the house to the cinder path to Whitby & another day down to RHB to walk across the beach to Boggle Hole when the tide was out. It’s an area we’ve known over many years. Our 3 generation family, grandparents to teenagers, all enjoyed the last week in March in the house & chilling in the lounge in the evenings. The garden looked lovely too.

  • Seafern is one of the best holiday rentals I’ve stayed in. Immaculately presented with a calming colour palette in the bedrooms and spacious, well appointed communal areas, it’s perfectly situated an easy walk from Robin Hood’s Bay with footpaths to explore in both directions. I didn’t want to leave!

  • I’ve just returned from a wonderful evening at this beautifully equipped house (I’ve now got home and want to redecorate my entire home). It’s a wonderful location in a quiet close in a very friendly village. The walk down to Robin Hood Bay was spectacular and a very simple drive to Whitby. If you want something a bit bigger. We felt cosy and fortunate to be in such a beautiful place for a relaxing weekend. We will definitely be back and will be recommending to friends and family. Thank you

  • Wow! Fabulous accommodation in a beautiful part of the country. Spacious and spotless, we felt spoilt at SeaFern. Straightforward to get to, easy parking, plenty of room and everything we needed for a relaxing girls weekend. The attention to detail to make SeaFern special is evident. The walk to RHB was wonderful and easy to find. Whitby was a great local day out. While we didn’t end up at the pub, it’s a 5 min walk and the corner shop the same. We will be back to explore further!

  • We had a great week at Sea Fern celebrating the New Year with our family. The house is beautifully furnished, spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean, a real home from home.
Perfectly located for walks to Whitby, Ravenscar and to the beach at Robin Hoods Bay. A good choice of pubs and restaurants are close by.
We would highly recommend Sea Fern and will certainly be back.

    — Linda Shepherd, 06 Jan 2024

  • This property is 5 star all the way. It's stunning and has everything you need. The location is perfect for visiting Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby and Saltburn. Thank you Jill for all the recommendations of pubs. We will be back, love the Taylors xx

  • Absolutely lovely house. It was easy to find and get inside. The pictures don't do the house justice. It is very large, exquisitely clean and beautifully decorated. It has just about everything needed for a holiday. Excellent parking and lovely private garden. The house is 20 minute walk to Robin Hood's Bay. The nearest pub is just 10 minutes walk. Jill, the host, is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

  • Well we have certainly had a fabulous break, everything about it was perfect. From the moment we walked in it felt like “home from home”. The house is exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated throughout, it’s a perfect location to explore from. We walked the dogs to Robin Hoods Bay every morning across the fields - a wonderful walk.

I would honestly recommend staying at Sea Fern to all my family and friends, you won’t be disappointed. We will certainly be back.

Jill the owner is so accommodating. One of the best houses we have rented thank you.

    — Deb Howard, 06 Jul 2023
  • Really good booking experience. Jill was very helpful, providing a number of options in terms of dates and availability for us to select the most suitable.
The property itself was immaculately presented. Very spaciois and clean with quality furnishings and luxury toiletries. The cul de sac is lovely and quiet. The walk to Robin Hoods Bay was picturesque, with a few pubs along the way!
We travelled from Derbyshire, bringing our horse and dog too. The horse was kept at Farsyde Farm, which was just down the road, so Sea Fern was a perfect location.
Would certainly return again, our 7 year old daughter wanted to move in.

  • We have had a fabulous week at Seafern. The house is lovely. So clean and fresh, very quiet, private garden and a nice walk down to the bay. We have not got in the car since we arrived. One of the most chilled holidays we have ever had.
Kevin, Amanda and Cilla the dog .
Ps watch the cheeky blackbird that came into the kitchen to eat the dogs biscuits!

  • Had a lovely stay at Sea Fern cottage, very home from home, excellent facilities, beautifully decorated with great taste and the garage with all the cycling tools was amazing addition. We left some bike lights for other guests to use.

  • Well that was an amazing break away! What a fantastic time in Robin Hoods Bay, staying at the superb Seafern Cottage. A fantastic location, lovely interior, and well thought out facilities. The perfect base to explore this beautiful coastline. We will certainly be back!

    — Jo Hocken, 23 May 2023
  • I stayed at 3 properties during my trip and Seafern was my favourite. The others were fine but not of such a high standard in terms of comfort and , importantly, I feel , although I didn’t meet you , the welcome you gave was far superior. The initial contact and info email and the rapid responses to emails and queries plus your obvious enthusiasm for both Seafern and the surrounding area. I felt you were sharing Seafern with me and I was honoured 😁

  • Had a great 4 night stay at Sea Fern Cottage over the Easter Holidays. The location is ideal for lots of outdoor activities. We cycled, walked the dogs and rode our horse on the Cinder Track, whilst enjoying the fabulous coastal views. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

We enjoyed a number of walks straight from the house, cycled up to Ravenscar on the cinder track. lots of choices for food and drink, all within walking distance! would highly recommend.

  • I have just one word for you Jill…INCREDIBLE! What a wonderful place and perfectly presented. We are going to be so comfortable here for the next two days.

    — Murray Chisholm, 02 Feb 2023
  • Wow...What can we say? Wonderful house, more like a 'home from home'. Perfect base for exploring the region. Would definitely like to return.

  • What a fantastic newly decorated, spacious cottage. My friend and I stayed for a weekend - we came up to do a sauna and sunrise sea dip session at Robin Hoods Bay. Was just fabulous. Great location, easy walk down to the Bay over the fields or on the road and the cottage is situated with easy assess to both the Cinder Path and Cleveland Way, no need to get the car out for fab biking and walking. We enjoyed a fabulous walk during our stay and will be back to explore more as a ladies group - there is so much to do! Will also return with my family. Great storage in a lockable garage for bikes, paddleboards, surf boards etc. Loads of parking as well. Loved the place, great for teenagers as so much space. Well done on transforming and breathing new life into the property.

  • Myself and my partner stayed at Seafern over the Halloween weekend for Whitby Goth Weekend. We have never stayed in Fylingthorpe before but we really enjoyed our stay. Seafern is in a great location, we could walk into Robin Hood’s Bay with our dog along the cycle path and we used the local Bay Taxi’s to get into Whitby on Saturday night. The house itself is beautiful, comfortable and luxurious. Fabulous decor and a powerful shower! Wi-Fi is good, the house has everything we needed, we couldn’t have asked more. We can’t wait to go back!
