3 DOG FRIENDLY WALKS FROM ROBIN HOODS BAY

3 DOG FRIENDLY WALKS FROM ROBIN HOODS BAY

1.   CIRCULAR 4 MILE BEACH WALK TO STOUP BECK

When the tide is out it is possible to walk from Robin Hoods Bay to Ravenscar along the beach and back along the Cleveland Way or Cinder Path. This round trip is approximately 8-10 miles, so a packed lunch and hot drink or ice cream at the National Trust Cafe near Raven Hall is a welcome half way break. You will also get to see the seals at Ravenscar. The Happy Hiker website provides a map and good instructions for a shorter 4 mile loop.  We recommend that you check the tide times and plan your route along the beach accordingly.

2.  CIRCULAR 6 MILE CLEVELAND WAY BITE SIZED

You can't beat walking along the coast on the Cleveland Way. One option is to pick up the Cleveland way at the top of Robin Hood’s Bay and walk along the coast to Whitby Abbey and then drop down into town and get the X93 or X94 bus back.  Alternatively, we love this circular 6 mile route from Fylingthorpe to Hawsker and back along the coastal path. Mud and Routes website provide a map and excellent directions. The route can be started at Sea Fern where you pick up the walking path from the cinder track and head up past Hooks House Farm Camp Site inland towards Hawkser Bottom before returning along the coastal path to Robin Hoods bay and Fylingthorpe.

3.  CIRCULAR 3 MILE MAYBECK WOODLAND WALK

This is a circular walk starting at Seaton Forest car park (YO22 5JD) near to Falling Foss.  It’s a 10 minute drive from Sea Fern Cottage.  The waterfall is soon reached, whose 30 foot drop can be quite spectacular after heavy rain. The walk takes you on to Littlebeck affording views of the surrounding countryside. From Littlebeck, the coast to coast path is followed back towards Falling Foss through Little Beck Wood Nature Reserve, passing the Hermitage at the top of the wooded gorge.  You can enjoy a cake at the idyllic setting of Falling Foss Tea Garden. This nice 3.4 mile route can be found on the Dales Walks website.

Come stay with us and enjoy these walks and more from Sea Fern Cottage.  We're walking distance to the beach at Robin Hood's Bay.  Find out more about our dog friendly status here or
